Another memorable store visit at South Coast Plaza took place at Oscar de la Renta, and it was truly special. Events like this often bring in regional directors who take the time to walk us through the collection in depth, sharing not only the commercial highlights but also the inspiration, craftsmanship, and story behind each piece. It transforms the experience into something far more meaningful than a traditional presentation.
As the boutique is closed exclusively to stylists, these visits are like informal team meetings. There are no professional models, which is one of the most delightful aspects of these events— since one of the stylists always becomes the model of the day. It feels like playing dress-up in our mother’s or a chic aunt’s closet, discovering beautiful pieces in the most personal way. At Oscar de la Renta, Aline had the honor of modeling the new designs, giving us a real sense of how the garments move and feel.
The collection itself was captivating, bringing me memories of Oscar de la Renta, whom I once had the pleasure of meeting briefly. The designs felt delicate, elegant, and timeless—very much in the spirit of the designer himself.
To make the day even more refined, we were invited to lunch at Knife Pleat, the contemporary French restaurant by chef Tony Esnault and restaurateur Yassmin Sarmadi, located in the Penthouse at South Coast Plaza. It was the perfect, gentlemanly ending to an already exceptional experience.
