Chania is the second largest city of Crete, and it is located on the north coast of the island.  With its old buildings, the well-known Venetian Harbor is probably one of the two places that you are most likely to see upon your arrival on the island. Chania, was the site of the Minoan settlement that the Greeks called Kydonia.
My visit to this city was fantastic, but short. I had only two days on Chania.  We stayed at the Samaria Hotel, in the heart of Chania. The hotel is great and has a terrific staff.
To take the most out of our trip, upon arrival we took  The Red Bus Tour. This is a “hop on hop off” type of tour that allows you to see a lot! With headphone that will offer commentary of what you see in 8 languages, this tour is perfect for the ones that do not have much time.
During our second day, we had a great time at Elafonisi beach – which I loved. And to make things easier, we decide to hire a driver who took us to the see Chania and the most beautiful beaches around. Not forgetting to mention, the good places to buy Olives and honey. Our driver was excellent and I surely recommend him!
I really wish I had more time in Chania, because it was there that I found the most beautiful beaches in Greece 🙂
